William Imlay tax lists, 1850.

Tax lists for William Imlay of Hartford, Connecticut. The first list includes only houses and land, plus a wharf, Union Hall, and the State Bank. One of the houses is described as a "Negro" house evaluated at $100.00. The second list is divided into dwelling houses, lands, commercial properties, buildings used for manufactories such as a carriage shop, joiner's shop and a blacksmith's shop, plus three horses, a cow, three types of carriages, two gold watches, a clock, and a piano forte.

William Imlay was a postmaster in Allentown, N.J. From the description of Letterbook, 1834-1840. (Winterthur Library). WorldCat record id: 122574011 Resident of Allentown, Upper Freehold Township, Monmouth County, New Jersey; served as a justice of the peace, 1815?-18???, and as town postmaster, 1820-1845; conducted a drug and hardware store.
